Spexi is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join our team building a drone-powered geospatial data marketplace. You will contribute directly to the data customer application, taking ownership to develop a platform that is scalable, sustainable, extensible, and secure.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop an innovative geospatial data marketplace platform.
- Develop reliable APIs and backend services delivering global-scale geospatial data and aerial imagery.
- Work closely with frontend and data engineers to integrate services.
- Take ownership across the tech stack and help shape backend architecture.
- Maintain high-quality, well-documented, and reliable code.
- Provide technical leadership, constructive feedback, and mentorship to other engineers.
- Collaborate on ways to improve customer experience, processes, and workflows.
What We're Looking For
- BSc. in Computer Science or similar degree, or equivalent work experience.
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, with a history of creating and supporting large-scale production systems.
- A strong, self-directed drive with advanced problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Expert proficiency in database systems, data models, TypeScript, Python, and modern frameworks.
- Advanced knowledge of REST APIs and API-driven platform architectures, including how to build, secure, and scale them.
- Deep understanding of cloud-based infrastructure (AWS), performance optimization, and modern build tools and workflow automation.
- Experience with geospatial data, mapping, and image analysis.
- Strong communication skills, familiarity with professional software development processes, and the ability to work effectively in a remote, agile environment.
- An insatiable thirst for learning and challenging yourself.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with GIS software and tools (ESRI ecosystem especially).
- Solid understanding of 3D mathematics.
- Contributions to open-source projects or personal repositories showcasing your work.
