Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend systems that manage data processing, transformations, and business logic.
- Build core services that support critical application functionality.
- Design and implement event-driven architectures for asynchronous processing.
- Create reliable, idempotent workflows using message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Produce clean, well-documented, and maintainable code.
- Write services primarily in Go or similar backend languages, along with SQL using Postgres or comparable databases.
- Ensure software quality and system reliability through best practices.
- Implement comprehensive testing strategies including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Monitor system performance using metrics such as throughput, latency, and error rates, and set up alerting.
- Work closely with Product and Operations teams to deliver features efficiently and iteratively.
Requirements
- 4 to 7 years of professional software development experience, including senior-level responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Go or another comparable backend programming language.
- Strong skills in SQL with experience using Postgres or equivalent databases.
- Experience working with event buses and message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Demonstrated discipline in writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Familiarity with Git workflows, code review processes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in ensuring data consistency and correctness.
Nice to Have
- Experience working on payment platforms or financial reconciliation systems.
- Hands-on integration with accounting platforms like QuickBooks Online, Xero, or Netsuite.
- Understanding of fundamental accounting concepts such as double-entry bookkeeping.
- Experience using observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Basic knowledge of compliance and security practices including encryption and audit trails.
- Proven experience mentoring team members, leading projects, or improving engineering processes.
- Comfort operating in dynamic, high-impact environments with evolving priorities.
