Canva is hiring a Senior Software Engineer

Canva is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Cloud Enablement team. You will build and evolve cloud governance capabilities, abstract cloud complexity for engineers, and drive operational excellence across our global cloud infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Build and evolve cloud governance capabilities such as the Compliance Engine, Cloud Account Factory, and metadata systems that enforce guardrails, enhance visibility, and ensure Canva’s cloud environments remain compliant and low-risk.
• Abstract cloud complexity for engineers by designing and maintaining foundational platforms and services that make deploying to the cloud seamless, scalable, and safe.
• Drive operational excellence across cloud infrastructure by collaborating with Engineering Governance and Core Infrastructure teams to uplift Canva’s overall cloud posture, reduce risk, and promote industry-leading best practices.

What We're Looking For

• Confident coding in Golang or Python, with a keenness to upskill in the other.
• Strong foundational knowledge of computer engineering principles.
• Deep knowledge of cloud, especially GCP, with experience in services like GCE, Cloud Run, Cloud IAM, Cloud Identity, Cloud Storage, BigQuery.
• Experience building scalable and secure cloud architectures and platforms offering risk management solutions.
• Fluency in infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform).
• Ability to take ownership, track progress, and deliver outcomes whether working solo or with a team.
• Experience mentoring, guiding, and improving collaboration across a team.
• A curious and collaborative approach, diving into unfamiliar territory and solving challenges creatively.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with Kubernetes or similar container orchestration tools.
• AWS experience.
