Braze is seeking a Senior Software Developer in Test (SDET), Performance to join our fast-growing, remote-first company. In this role, you'll focus on unlocking the value of observability data by developing and running performance tests to identify bottlenecks and improve system behavior.
What You'll Do
- Effectively communicate performance test plans and results to cross-functional team members and management.
- Develop and run tests at scale and complexity to identify performance bottlenecks and uncover anomalous system behavior.
- Root cause performance and scalability issues and work closely with development teams to make improvements.
- Develop tools and frameworks to enable development teams to easily add performance tests.
- Integrate with continuous testing systems, testing automation with Playwright, and reporting of performance metrics.
- This position may require stand-by, on-call, or off-hours duties.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of software development experience; any programming language is acceptable.
- Ability to independently write working code in TypeScript/JavaScript (preferred) or Java, Groovy, or Python, with a willingness to transition to TypeScript.
- Expertise in designing and developing performance tests, especially with data-intensive applications and/or data stream processing.
- Expertise in identifying and investigating performance issues.
- Hands-on experience with Cloud (AWS, Azure preferred) and Docker is a must.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD.
- Knowledge and understanding of resource management in Linux or Windows is a must.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; able to explain complex technical topics to both internal and external stakeholders with ease and in remote/distributed environments.
- Experience working remotely.
Nice to Have
- Ability to independently write working code in TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure.
