Responsibilities
- Assist in scaling backend systems to accommodate high-volume customers.
- Build organizational trust through transparent communication and constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with backend teams to optimize infrastructure usage.
- Train as an Incident Commander, then train others in the role.
- Promote a healthy cross-Atlantic engineering culture within the SRE team and company.
- Participate in the team's on-call rotation as the EU side of a new follow-the-sun schedule.
- Guide the organization in balancing reliability with other goals and priorities.
- Optionally act as an external ambassador through blog posts, conference talks, and presentations with DevRel support.
Requirements
- Strong experience with AWS and Kubernetes.
- Experience in cost analysis and reduction.
- Solid experience with Helm, Terraform, and CI/CD.
- Project management skills.
- Software engineering experience (Golang and performance engineering are pluses).
- Experience with Kafka or another high-volume distributed system.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with ability to tailor messages and give direct feedback.
- Curiosity about how people and systems work, and willingness to make them partners in initiatives.
- Familiarity with observability concepts (SLOs, instrumentation) and data-driven decision making.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity with a bias for action and experimentation.
- Interest in both technical and human aspects of reliability engineering.
- Experience working in geographically distributed teams.
Nice to Have
- Golang experience is a plus.
- Performance engineering experience is a plus.
