Responsibilities
- Lead the assessment and choice of open foundation or open-weight models to serve as the foundation for next-generation translation systems.
- Guide decisions on model architecture and selection for large-scale models with hundreds of billions of parameters, including sparse and efficient approaches like Mixture-of-Experts.
- Develop adaptation strategies for multi-capability models using techniques such as LoRA and other parameter-efficient fine-tuning methods.
- Manage the full modeling lifecycle, from prototyping and ablation studies to scaling trials, evaluation, and deployment, ensuring rigorous and reproducible results.
- Collaborate with specialists in post-training, reinforcement learning, and instruction-following to incorporate alignment and capability enhancements into base models.
- Monitor advancements in open-model development and model scaling research, and provide evidence-based insights to inform team direction.
