Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Oregon’s only public academic health center, is hiring a Senior Research Associate. You will execute and oversee complex organoid experiments and develop functional assays to investigate the impacts of human milk on intestinal epithelial cell biology and mechanisms related to necrotizing enterocolitis.
What You'll Do
- Execute and oversee complex organoid experiments.
- Develop functional assays to delineate mechanisms of human milk action on intestinal development and maturation.
- Generate neonatal patient-derived intestinal organoids (enteroids) from surgical tissue samples, requiring keen attention to detail and impeccable sterile technique.
- Handle and purify milk samples for exploring the physiology of milk interactions with intestinal epithelium.
- Run various downstream cellular and molecular analyses including qPCR, western blotting, immunostaining, advanced imaging, proteomics, and transcriptomics.
- Develop new or optimize existing bioassays.
- Manage multiple co-occurring experiments.
- Assist lab team members with experiments involving neonatal mouse models of necrotizing enterocolitis.
- Support collaborating labs with visiting members.
