Responsibilities
- Perform safe and efficient pilotage on seagoing tanker vessels.
- Command ships to navigate them into and out of harbors, estuaries, straits, sounds, rivers, and bays, preventing unsafe operations.
- Execute safe berthing, mooring, unmooring, and unberthing of tanker vessels.
- Direct ship course and speed using specialized knowledge of local winds, weather, water depths, tides, currents, and hazards.
- Instruct helm crew to steer and navigate the ship, using navigation aids to avoid hazards.
- Guide tugboat captains on required assistance during berthing or unberthing operations.
- Consult maps, charts, weather reports, and navigation equipment to determine and direct ship movements.
- Assist ships approaching or leaving seacoasts, navigating in harbors, docking, and undocking.
- Operate ship-to-shore radios or other communication systems to exchange information for safe vessel operations.
- Advise ships' masters on harbor rules, terminal operations, and customs procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a Harbour and SPM pilot in the maritime industry.
- Master Class 1 certification, IMO A960 training, and medical fitness required.
- Experience with local navigation rules and geography.
- Team player with a collaborative approach, able to engage and partner at all levels.
- Excellent communicator capable of maintaining high standards.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written) is mandatory.

- Arabic language skills are an added advantage.
