Sword Health is seeking a Senior ML Engineer to join its Applied AI Team, building AI-driven healthcare solutions that deliver personalized clinical care at scale. The role focuses on developing end-to-end AI systems for treatment management and advancing Phoenix, an AI Care Specialist that guides patients through recovery using generative AI and classical machine learning techniques.
What You'll Do
- Develop AI and ML solutions that power personalized clinical care at scale
- Build end-to-end AI treatment management systems handling complete care pathways
- Design systems for initial assessment, intervention selection, and progress monitoring across therapeutic domains
- Develop Phoenix, an AI Care Specialist that engages in ongoing dialogue with patients
- Provide clinical guidance throughout patient recovery journeys
- Work across the full AI stack including prompt engineering, RAG implementations, model fine-tuning, and agentic workflows
- Leverage both generative AI and classical machine learning based on problem requirements
- Contribute to digital care solutions that improve clinical quality and accessibility
What We're Looking For
- Experience developing AI and ML solutions for real-world applications
- Proficiency in building end-to-end AI systems
- Strong understanding of AI/ML pipelines from assessment to monitoring
- Experience with prompt engineering
- Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) implementations
- Experience with model fine-tuning
- Experience with agentic workflows
- Ability to apply both generative AI and classical machine learning appropriately
Nice to Have
- Experience in healthcare or clinical AI applications
- Background in building conversational AI systems
- Experience with AI-driven patient engagement platforms
