The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the design, analysis, testing, and integration of complex military technologies within an Agile hardware development framework. This role focuses on ensuring mechanical systems meet rigorous performance, environmental, and manufacturing standards throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end mechanical development of advanced defense systems, including design, integration, testing, and production
- Create 3D solid models, technical drawings, and documentation using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Conduct tolerance analyses to verify proper fit and functionality of components
- Perform structural, thermal, and vibration analyses to validate system performance
- Evaluate designs against environmental and operational requirements
- Develop and test prototypes, executing verification and validation procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet design for testability, manufacturability, and producibility standards
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Design and implement test fixtures and equipment to validate product integrity
- Support technical issue resolution during manufacturing and testing phases
- Contribute to requirements definition, technology assessments, and trade studies
- Develop and execute test plans, integrating solutions and reporting detailed results
- Assist in capturing new business opportunities through technical engagement
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 4 years of experience (or 2 years with a Master's degree) in designing, testing, and troubleshooting high-reliability embedded systems
- Proven knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, testing methods, and experience with advanced test equipment
- Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, tools, and engineering processes
- Active Department of Defense security clearance
Nice to Have
- Understanding of heat transfer, material strength, material selection, and vibration-resistant design applied to complex mechanical challenges
- Experience with mechanical design and analysis tools such as ANSYS Workbench, PTC Creo, MATLAB/Simulink, Siemens NX, and ANSYS Icepak
- Familiarity with design and manufacturing standards for multilayer rigid and rigid-flex circuit card assemblies
- Knowledge of aerospace and defense development standards including ASTM, SAE, DO, and MIL-STD-810
- Proven ability to work independently with experience in Agile hardware development
- Demonstrated creativity, ingenuity, and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing control accounts
- Background in LRIP and FRP environments, particularly in electronics manufacturing and test
- Familiarity with AS9145-compliant processes
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities

Compensation
Between $89,650 and $152,460 per year
Work Arrangement
onsite — Nashua, New Hampshire — Full-time on site; no remote work due to government contract requirements
