AECOM is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Data Centers - Remote (U.S.)

About the Role

This role involves leading mechanical design efforts for mission-critical data center projects, ensuring systems are reliable, energy-efficient, and aligned with client specifications and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical system design for large-scale data center facilities
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings and specifications
  • Perform load calculations and system sizing for HVAC and related systems
  • Collaborate with electrical, structural, and controls engineers on integrated solutions
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards
  • Support project management through scheduling and budgeting input
  • Conduct design reviews and coordinate feedback from stakeholders
  • Optimize mechanical systems for energy efficiency and operational resilience
  • Prepare technical submittals and construction documentation
  • Troubleshoot design issues during construction phases
  • Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical guidance
  • Apply industry best practices to cooling strategies and airflow management
  • Work with clients to understand project requirements and constraints
  • Integrate sustainability principles into mechanical design
  • Support commissioning processes for mechanical systems
  • Evaluate new technologies and methodologies for data center applications
  • Maintain design consistency across multiple project sites
  • Ensure redundancy and fault tolerance in mechanical system layouts
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors during implementation
  • Manage design deliverables within established timelines
