AECOM is hiring a Senior Mechanical Designer, Data Centers - Remote (U.S.)

About the Role

The role involves leading mechanical design efforts for large-scale data center projects, ensuring technical accuracy, innovation, and adherence to client and industry standards through all project phases.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of mechanical systems for data center projects from concept through construction documentation
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings and specifications for HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems
  • Collaborate with electrical, structural, and architectural teams to ensure integrated design solutions
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to create construction-ready mechanical documentation
  • Support sustainable design practices and energy efficiency initiatives in mechanical systems
  • Review contractor submittals and respond to requests for information during construction
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Participate in design coordination meetings and client presentations
  • Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance
  • Conduct load calculations and system sizing for mechanical equipment
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors to integrate specifications into design documents
  • Develop and maintain design templates and office standards
  • Perform quality control reviews on design deliverables
  • Assist in project scheduling and resource planning
  • Stay current with evolving data center technologies and mechanical innovations

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Tier III or Tier IV data center projects
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination workflows
  • Knowledge of sustainable design principles and LEED certification
  • Experience with chiller plants and cooling towers
  • Exposure to international design standards
  • Background in commissioning support or design-assist projects
