Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer - LLM Specialist for Octopus by RTG. You will play a pivotal role in building production-ready GenAI solutions leveraging state-of-the-art Large Language Models (LLMs). This position focuses on designing, fine-tuning, and deploying ML systems that go beyond prototypes to deliver real-world impact in a remote-first, fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop scalable LLM/ML solutions using commercial APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Gemini) and open-source models (e.g., LLaMA, Mistral).
• Fine-tune and customize open-source LLMs for domain-specific applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional product and engineering teams to integrate models into production environments.
• Solve real-world NLP and machine learning problems using advanced modeling approaches.
• Stay ahead of GenAI developments and continuously apply cutting-edge research in practical implementations.
• Engage with international teams and support client-facing initiatives where required.

What We're Looking For

• 1.5+ years of hands-on experience specifically with LLMs and GenAI.
• Strong expertise working with LLM APIs and open-source architectures such as LLaMA and Mixtral.
• Proven experience in building and deploying production-grade LLM-based solutions.
• Background in fine-tuning open-source models for specific domains.
• 4+ years of overall experience in machine learning, excluding internships or academic work.
• Deep understanding of NLP and proficiency across multiple ML domains.
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to communicate technical concepts effectively in diverse, global teams.

Nice to Have

• 2+ years of hands-on experience specifically with LLMs and GenAI.
