DECK 13 Interactive GmbH was looking for a Senior Lighting Artist (f/m/x)

About the Role

The candidate will be responsible for shaping the visual atmosphere of game scenes using lighting and shading techniques, ensuring artistic consistency and technical performance across platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement lighting setups for interior and exterior environments
  • Collaborate with art and design teams to achieve desired mood and visual storytelling
  • Optimize lighting solutions for performance on target hardware
  • Integrate dynamic and baked lighting systems within the game engine
  • Troubleshoot visual artifacts and technical limitations in real-time rendering
  • Ensure consistency with the project’s artistic direction and color language
  • Work with level artists to enhance spatial readability through light
  • Support the creation of time-of-day and weather-based lighting variations
  • Develop and maintain lighting documentation and best practices
  • Contribute to asset review and iteration based on feedback

Nice to Have

  • Experience with high dynamic range lighting and global illumination
  • Background in cinematic or real-time cutscene lighting
  • Knowledge of pipeline tools for automated lighting processes
  • Familiarity with photogrammetry-based environments
  • Previous work on open-world or narrative-driven titles
