Responsibilities
- Use distributed systems expertise to build and operate core pieces of the next-generation Serverless Elasticsearch offering, directly affecting customer experience worldwide.
- Enhance Elasticsearch components that support concurrent and consistent indexing across multiple machines.
- Maintain the cluster coordination system to ensure high performance as nodes join or leave and data moves, while preserving system safety and liveness properties.
- Push the limits on the number of shards, nodes, and petabytes that Elasticsearch can handle.
- Investigate issues including performance or concurrency problems and propose solutions.
- Assist support engineers with the most challenging problems.
- Own operational investigations from start to finish until performance or stability issues are resolved.
