Fluidstack is hiring a Senior HSE Specialist, Data Centers

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary on-site EHS representative during construction and initial operations phases at Texas data center locations.
  • Perform daily site inspections, identify hazards, and document observations until resolved.
  • Lead pre-task planning sessions, safety briefings, and toolbox talks with general contractors and subcontractor teams.
  • Manage site-level permit-to-work systems, including lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, and energized electrical work permits.
  • Ensure EHS compliance and performance among a large, multi-trade subcontractor workforce during construction.
  • Build relationships with trades foremen, crew leads, and subcontractor safety representatives to promote safe behavior at all levels.
  • Review and enforce subcontractor site-specific safety plans, job hazard analyses, and toolbox talk documentation.
  • Conduct safety orientations and trade-specific pre-task planning sessions for crews.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and report non-compliance to general contractor leadership and regional HSE management.
  • Serve as the primary EHS contact for general contractor safety supervisors and subcontractor safety leads on Texas sites.
  • Review and provide feedback on general contractor daily safety reports, job hazard analyses, and toolbox talk records.
  • Participate in weekly safety coordination meetings and track open action items to resolution.
  • Support general contractor onboarding to align with site-specific EHS requirements from mobilization through commissioning.
  • Shift EHS focus to operational safety programs as construction phases complete and sites transition to continuous data center operations.
  • Develop and maintain operational EHS procedures for Texas facilities, collaborating with engineering and operations teams.
  • Support commissioning and energization activities with appropriate safety oversight and permit-to-work management.
  • Establish a foundation for an ongoing continuous operations EHS program for the Texas region.
  • Lead first-response coordination and initial incident investigation for all recordable events on Texas sites.
  • Maintain incident documentation, complete OSHA 300 log entries, and coordinate with regional management on regulatory notification requirements.
  • Conduct and document root cause analyses, develop corrective action plans, and track them to closure.
  • Maintain site emergency response plans and coordinate emergency drills with general contractors and operations teams.
  • Oversee site environmental compliance, including stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) inspection and documentation, spill response, and waste management.
  • Maintain environmental permits and regulatory correspondence relevant to Texas site operations.
  • Coordinate environmental sampling, reporting, and agency interactions under the direction of regional HSE management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety documentation for all Texas sites, including inspection logs, training records, and permit files.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering (any discipline, such as Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar).
  • 3–5 years of safety experience, or a strong engineering background with direct construction site exposure and a commitment to an EHS career path.
  • Hands-on experience working with trades and in active construction environments, understanding crew-level work processes.
  • Ability to live and work in the Lubbock, TX area, as this is a mandatory location requirement.
  • Experience with or a strong understanding of permit-to-work systems (LOTO, confined space, hot work).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with subcontractor crews and influence safety behavior without relying solely on authority.

Nice to Have

  • Background in environmental compliance, continuous operations environments (e.g., manufacturing, energy, data centers), or both.
  • Experience managing EHS compliance for multi-trade or large subcontractor workforces on complex construction sites.
  • Familiarity with data center construction, high-voltage electrical environments, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Certifications such as CHST, STSC, or OSHA 30 (Construction).
  • Experience with environmental programs, including SWPPP, stormwater compliance, or waste management.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and a track record of taking on increasing responsibility over time.
