Emerson is looking for a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing low-power, high-reliability analog and digital circuits for harsh industrial environments, overseeing PCB layout, and leading hardware development from concept to release.
What You'll Do
- Work as part of a multi-discipline team.
- Design low-power, high-reliability analog circuits using op-amps and digital circuits that meet requirements for harsh industrial environments and regulatory standards.
- Perform design simulations using tools like PSpice or LTSpice and conduct signal integrity analysis.
- Oversee PCB layout, component selection, and design reviews to ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to fulfill overall system requirements with a cost-effective, high-quality approach.
- Work with EMS suppliers for prototyping, board bring-up, functional testing, and debugging.
- Develop and execute electronics test plans for verification and validation.
- Interface with certification bodies and support regulatory approval processes.
- Influence mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing design requirements to ensure a successful end-product.
What We're Looking For
- A BE in Electronics Engineering or a related level of experience plus certifications.
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
Nice to Have
- Good working knowledge of electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, meters, and signal generators.
- 5+ years of experience with analog and digital circuit design and industrial communication protocols (e.g., HART, Modbus, CAN, RS-485).
- 3+ years of Intrinsic Safety and explosion-proof design experience.
- Experience with 16/32-bit microcontrollers/microprocessors and a strong understanding of controller architecture and peripherals.
- Strong core embedded skills to analyze requirements, develop solutions, and resolve technical challenges.
- Proven experience in taking initial requirements through end-to-end product development and leading a design team from concept to release.
- Experience developing hardware designs that meet EMI/EMC requirements for harsh industrial environments.
- Ability to interpret various industry standards for industrial products and translate them into product design.
- Experience working in a global engineering environment.
- Experience developing hardware for products involving pneumatic actuators or control valve interfaces.
- Strong exposure to product development life cycle processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Experience developing products with industrial protocols like HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and Industrial Ethernet.
