About this opportunity We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with comprehensive full-stack capabilities to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll architect and scale backend infrastructure powering a high-performance SaaS platform utilized by thousands of organizations to efficiently manage workforce, project, and payroll operations. Additionally, you'll enhance and refine our Hotwire/Tailwind design system, collaborating closely with engineering and product stakeholders to deliver a consistent, adaptable, and streamlined user interface. What's in it for you: • Contribute to robust full-stack systems serving 95,000+ business clients • Address complex challenges using Ruby on Rails, Hotwire, Tailwind, Sidekiq, Redis, and contemporary JavaScript frameworks • Thrive in a remote-first, autonomous environment founded on trust and asynchronous collaboration Is that you? • 7+ years of commercial development experience, including 5+ years with production Ruby on Rails applications • Robust database proficiency with PostgreSQL or MySQL • Expertise in background processing and asynchronous operations (Sidekiq, Redis) • Demonstrated capability to design high-performance, scalable, and dependable systems • Proficiency with Hotwire, Tailwind, and at least one major JavaScript framework (React.js, Vue.js, etc.) • Experience collaborating asynchronously in fully remote team environments • Proven record of extended tenure in recent professional roles Desirable: • Experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ) or search engines (Elasticsearch, Solr) • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS/GCP • Proven track record of optimizing performance in high-traffic applications • Strong focus on design consistency and component-driven development Key responsibilities and your contribution In this position, you'll design and maintain scalable full-stack systems powering our SaaS platform, balancing technical sophistication with timely project execution. • Develop, construct, and sustain services and features using Ruby on Rails • Architect scalable systems for expansive datasets and high-volume requests • Expand custom design system with innovative components, patterns, and accessibility standards • Construct and integrate user-facing features with Hotwire, Stimulus, and Turbo • Utilize modern JavaScript frameworks as required • Collaborate with Engineering Management and product teams on strategic priorities and roadmap • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across database, application, and frontend rendering • Implement background job processing utilizing Sidekiq and Redis • Create automated tests with RSpec, system tests, and Stimulus/Hotwire helpers • Actively engage in code reviews, documentation, and planning sessions
