Lead the development and deployment of advanced flight control and guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) systems for unmanned aircraft within a mission-driven environment. As the primary technical authority in flight control automation, you will shape the direction of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring robust performance, safety, and seamless transition from concept to fielded capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal engineer for flight control automation, guiding technical decisions across design, implementation, and validation phases
- Translate complex technical requirements into actionable development goals aligned with operational objectives
- Lead a specialized team focused on Flight Controls and GNC Automation across multiple fixed-wing unmanned platforms
- Design and execute test strategies using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) environments, ground testing, and flight campaigns
- Analyze performance data to inform risk assessments, safety protocols, procedural updates, and next-generation system improvements
- Support internal and customer-led reviews by planning and executing test activities that validate system readiness
- Integrate findings into engineering workflows to enhance product reliability and long-term supportability

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or Controls Engineering—or a closely related field—plus at least five years of hands-on experience developing flight control and GNC systems for fixed-wing unmanned aircraft.
- Proven track record delivering technical solutions in fast-paced project environments with strong risk management practices
- Direct experience in software development for flight controls and implementing GNC algorithms on fixed-wing platforms
- Proficiency operating HIL simulators and debugging hardware-software integration issues
- Familiarity with software configuration management, version control, defect tracking, and peer review processes
- Ability to lead technical teams or contribute independently to critical path tasks
- U.S. citizenship is required; candidate must be eligible to obtain and retain a DoD Security Clearance
Preferred Background
- Over ten years of specialized experience in UAS flight controls and GNC development
- Success collaborating in multidisciplinary teams combining deep technical expertise with business-focused innovation
