Dephy is looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and optimize firmware solutions for our embedded platform and battery management systems. You will have direct responsibility for shipping new features and will lead and mentor engineers through quality review and collaborative development.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and optimize firmware solutions that ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our embedded platform and battery management systems.
- Ship new features and have direct responsibility for the firmware in company-level projects.
- Write drivers that interface with sensors, scheduling, and timing microcontroller tasks, and interface with higher-level applications.
- Lead and mentor engineers through quality review, pair-programming, brainstorming, and testing.
What We're Looking For

- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining embedded firmware dedicated to battery designs, including wireless systems and battery management systems.
- Proven knowledge of C/C++ programming for embedded systems, Python, microcontrollers (STM32, TI), and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Demonstrated experience in interfacing with hardware modules and hardware debugging. Skilled with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, hand tools and soldering.
- Familiarity with Altium or other electronic design platforms.
- Experience with ARM microprocessors.
- Strong foundation in implementing firmware features that enable accurate monitoring of embedded systems parameters such as voltage, current, and temperature.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a cross-functional team to implement, develop, and execute rigorous testing plans to validate firmware functionality and reliability.
- Demonstrated expertise in ensuring firmware meets safety standards and regulatory requirements, incorporating fault detection, diagnostic routines, and fail-safe mechanisms to protect battery integrity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to firmware, working closely with cross-functional teams to address and resolve problems.
- Professional history with creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation of firmware design, development processes, and testing procedures.
- Experience with Git.
- Experience with Linux and Windows.
Nice to Have
- 7+ years of work experience in firmware/embedded development.
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies in embedded systems.
- Experience tracking tasks, planning sprints, and maintaining the backlog of high-level projects.
- Familiarity with mentoring and sharing knowledge with all team members, including other engineers, co-ops, and interns, by assigning tasks, training, peer-programming, and giving feedback when necessary.
- Experience with TDD.
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira and Confluence).

Benefits & Compensation
- Salary: $135,000-$150,000 + equity. Compensation will be determined based on qualifications.
