Responsibilities
- Lead and expand an engineering team focused on developing and improving systems for billing, subscriptions, invoicing, and usage tracking—core components of revenue generation and monetization.
- Ensure high reliability and operational rigor in billing infrastructure, including on-call effectiveness, incident management, system observability, and overall product stability.
- Work closely with senior and staff engineers to define and implement technical direction across subscription systems, usage metering, invoicing, and third-party integrations like Stripe Billing, balancing immediate goals with long-term platform scalability.
- Collaborate extensively with Product, Design, Sales, Finance, Enterprise Systems, Analytics, and Billing Operations to align roadmaps, address operational challenges, and deliver clear business results each quarter.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with leaders in Finance, Enterprise Systems, and Analytics to ensure data accuracy, compliance, reconciliation processes, and reporting requirements are met.
- Lead system modernization and migration initiatives—such as adopting Stripe-first capabilities or improving system parity—with careful change management and reliable downstream data integration.
- Provide clear direction on priorities, trade-offs, and delivery timelines; enforce strong planning, rigorous testing, and end-to-end quality standards, especially for launches affecting revenue.
- Grow and retain skilled engineers through coaching, clear goal setting, and effective delegation, while scaling leadership impact via strong technical leads and a coach-and-delegate model.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and high performance, emphasizing speed, clear communication, and recognition of team achievements.
