Responsibilities
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, distributed full-stack engineering team across levels in global locations.
- Drive full-stack developer experience and platform capabilities across the design system, championing theming infrastructure, rapid prototyping tools, AI-powered accessibility (A11y) remediation, and developer tooling that unblock product teams to build high-quality experiences faster.
- Scale and evolve Atlassian's in-house translation and localization platform, improving translation quality, latency, and adoption across product surfaces to support global customer experiences.
- Partner with design, product, and engineering peers to embed accessibility, internationalization, and quality standards directly into platform tools and automated guardrails.
- Drive operational excellence, release hygiene, and governance across shared packages and services, balancing platform stability with fast developer iteration.
- Be the engineering anchor in triad planning with Design, Product Management, and TPM partners, driving roadmap alignment and quarterly capacity allocation.
- Cultivate an open, high-trust engineering culture focused on craft excellence, psychological safety, and continuous technical growth.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience managing software engineering teams in platform or full-stack domains.
- Proven track record leading senior and principal engineers, guiding execution, and mentoring talent within the team.
- Strong full-stack technical background spanning backend service architecture (distributed systems, resilient microservices) paired with modern web foundations (React, TypeScript, browser runtime performance).
- Experience with design system infrastructure, developer platforms, prototyping tooling, localization systems, or AI-assisted developer workflows at scale.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate closely with design managers, product managers, and TPMs to balance design quality with platform scalability and developer velocity.
- Track record of leading distributed, asynchronous engineering teams across multiple time zones.
- Passion for technical mentorship, operational rigor, and building high-trust team cultures.
