Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the hardware development, cost-reduction design, and technical support for drives used in HVAC compressors and fan motors (PMSM & BLDCM). You will be responsible for the full hardware lifecycle, from design and validation to production support and after-sales problem resolution.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and introduce drive hardware, completing technical documents including drawings, BOMs, calculations, stress analysis, and test reports.
- Lead cost-reduction selection and validation for drive-related components.
- Support the analysis and resolution of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) issues.
- Provide technical support for issues arising during drive production, testing, and for major after-sales problems.
- Support the test team with validation plans, test system setup, and change point management.
- Continuously summarize and optimize related design standards and component selection manuals.
- Optimize the design process and standardize the design documentation system.
- Follow industry trends and track the latest drive topology developments and key component upgrades.
- Adhere to company ethics policies, systems, processes, and quality requirements relevant to the role.
- Execute company safety, health, and environmental management systems, identify and assess functional block hazards and environmental factors, and oversee the effective implementation of objectives and management plans.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in inverter/drive design.
- Proficient in the principles of inverters/drives/switching power supplies and PMSM & BLDCM.
- Familiar with the characteristics, selection design, and key quality control points of critical components.
- Familiar with inverter/drive simulation design and knowledgeable about motor control principles and methods.
- Proficient in at least one EDA tool, such as Altium, Cadence, or Mentor.
- Familiar with hardware circuit testing methods and skilled in using corresponding measurement instruments, capable of independently completing hardware testing.
- Familiar with EMC testing and knowledgeable about common certification standards (CCC, CE, UL).
- Strong professional knowledge communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, service orientation, and teamwork spirit.
- Proficient in English reading and writing, able to read relevant English materials and drawings.
