Responsibilities
- Lead the definition of product design requirements by converting customer, regulatory, and internal inputs into measurable engineering specifications and acceptance criteria, driving alignment across stakeholders with minimal guidance
- Develop hardware specifications and interface definitions for assigned subsystems, including architectural choices, design trade-offs, risk assessment, and compliance with system-level requirements; provide expert consultation on complex technical challenges
- Plan and conduct proof-of-concept builds and feasibility studies using innovative methods to reduce technical risk early, defining objectives, success metrics, timelines, and follow-up actions
- Design and manage complex schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer, addressing signal and power integrity; review and approve layouts developed by others when necessary
- Create and execute verification plans; build, test, and debug circuits to confirm compliance with specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements, making independent technical decisions
- Lead cross-functional design reviews by setting goals, ensuring participation, resolving action items, and maintaining quality, manufacturability, and serviceability
- Design verification test systems and procedures that balance test coverage, repeatability, speed, and cost; collaborate with internal teams and external partners to implement effective testing strategies
- Produce and maintain manufacturing documentation such as BOMs, assembly drawings, work instructions, and test procedures; manage timely release and engineering change notifications
- Provide expert support and training to field and repair technicians; lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex field issues
- Generate and maintain detailed engineering records including drawings, test reports, specifications, and evaluations; communicate technical status and risks clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Conduct or oversee testing in real-world environments such as warehouses or mining sites; use engineering judgment to interpret incomplete data and improve product reliability and usability
- Manage component lifecycle for existing products by identifying obsolescence risks, qualifying replacements, and coordinating changes across design, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality teams
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and interns through coaching, work review, and best practice development to enhance team performance

- Occasional travel to supplier, partner, or customer sites—including industrial or mining locations—may be required for R&D, testing, or troubleshooting
- Employees must wear safety equipment such as hard hats, steel-toed shoes, reflective clothing, ear protection, and safety glasses when on required worksites
- The role may require occasional standing, walking, stooping, or crouching
