AECOM is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer - Substations (ROI)

About the Role

The role involves leading electrical engineering activities for substation projects, including design, technical reviews, client coordination, and mentoring junior engineers within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of electrical substation systems
  • Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for power infrastructure
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ensure compliance with Irish and international electrical standards
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and control engineers on integrated designs
  • Manage project deliverables within schedule and budget constraints
  • Perform load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies
  • Review contractor submittals and construction documentation
  • Support procurement processes for electrical equipment
  • Conduct site inspections and construction oversight
  • Lead technical meetings with clients and stakeholders
  • Develop and review protection relay settings
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations
  • Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical guidance
  • Prepare cost estimates and project proposals
  • Integrate renewable energy sources into substation designs
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during construction and commissioning
  • Maintain quality assurance and control procedures
  • Utilize engineering software for modeling and simulation
  • Support permitting and regulatory approval processes
