Responsibilities
- Lead embedded electronic design from concept to production — schematic capture, PCB layout, firmware (C/ASM), and everything in between
- Define product electrical and firmware architecture as the technical foundation for global teams and contract manufacturing partners
- Coordinate day-to-day engineering tasks to hit prototype milestones for internal reviews and research programs
- Partner with Engineering and Product Marketing to develop EBOM cost estimates and assess work effort for new initiatives
- Own compliance — work with the compliance team to ensure products meet global certification standards for consumer electronics
- Develop clear, thorough hardware and firmware specifications and documentation
- Lead EMI/EMC and compliance issue resolution through rigorous root cause analysis
- Report program status to global EE leadership and contribute to organizational goal-setting
- Mentor junior engineers and help raise the technical bar across the team
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years in embedded hardware and firmware design, with full product development cycles under your belt
- Proven ability to design electronics from scratch — not just adapt existing designs
- Experience in component selection, system architecture, design verification, and documentation
- Firmware development for microcontrollers: design, test, and debug
- Familiarity with DFM, DFT, and reliability principles
- EMI/EMC troubleshooting and compliance resolution experience
- Strong communicator — comfortable presenting technical decisions to cross-functional and global audiences
- Self-directed, with the ability to manage your own priorities in a fast-moving environment
Nice to Have
- Consumer product or consumer goods consulting experience
- Familiarity with compilers, IDEs, JIRA, and SVN
- Experience working within distributed, multi-site engineering teams
