Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of continuous integration and deployment systems, including migration from GitLab CI to GitHub Actions, standardizing reusable workflows, and enhancing deployment speed and dependability.
- Collaborate on managing and securing EKS clusters, handling upgrades, networking, autoscaling, and ensuring consistent workload reliability.
- Manage and optimize a fleet of managed PostgreSQL databases, including performance tuning, replication, backup strategies, and coordination with developers on schema and query efficiency.
- Maintain and support a self-hosted Kafka platform on Kubernetes using Strimzi, ensuring health of change data capture pipelines, schema compatibility, and data throughput.
- Oversee the infrastructure and operations of a data lake built on Apache Iceberg in S3, integrated with Snowflake and dbt, including storage, access controls, and cost management.
- Enable analytics engineering by supporting dbt workflows, including environment setup, CI/CD integration, automated testing, and deployment automation.
- Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform with disciplined practices such as code review, testing, and reproducible deployments.
- Integrate security practices into platform and pipeline design, including secrets handling, least-privilege access, network isolation, and automated vulnerability scanning.
- Support infrastructure compliance for SOC 2 by implementing access controls, audit logging, change tracking, and automated evidence collection.
- Improve operational maturity through standardized practices, on-call procedures, incident response, and capacity planning for scalable growth.
- Ensure comprehensive observability by maintaining systems for metrics, logs, distributed tracing, and proactive alerting to detect issues early.
- Drive cost optimization across AWS services by analyzing usage, recommending tradeoffs, and implementing controls to maintain efficiency at scale.
