Responsibilities
- Act as a ‘hands on’ Senior Delivery Manager for client projects or across a client portfolio on multiple projects
- Support recruitment of both permanent and contract Delivery Managers for Methods
- Provide line management for Delivery Managers and junior / graduate Delivery Managers
- Support sales/pre-sales and bid processes
- Work with different stakeholders to agree Statements of Work (SoWs) and engage with the Methods account team as required
- Make recommendations on team shape
- Be the first point of contact for the client with the wider team
- Liaise credibly and influentially with clients, often working alongside a Product Owner / Manager from the client
- Support clients in their role by applying strategic thinking to deliver best possible outcomes and manage stakeholder buy-in
- Facilitate agile delivery and transformation on client projects
- Act as a servant-leader for multidisciplinary teams, helping them plan work, remove blockers, and report progress
- Manage and communicate project risks, issues, and dependencies
- Upskill clients in agile methodologies
- Support managing project budgets and budget burn down
- Ensure delivery against the statement of work
- Raise risks and issues internally to the Methods Digital management team when needed
- Help create a welcoming, safe and inclusive team environment
- Coach more junior team members in Agile and Lean practices
- Contribute to the wider cross-Methods delivery management community of practice
- Provide line management for junior team members, including helping them manage issues arising on client work
- Respond proportionately and supportively to team member challenges
Requirements
- Outcome-focused with a passion for delivering user-centred digital services in the public sector
- Experience working in a public sector environment
- Working knowledge of public sector standards and principles, such as the Service Standard
- Ability to mediate between people and communicate with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate discussions about risk and complexity
- Strong listening skills and ability to promote a safe and respectful team ethos
- Proven ability to lead teams through the full product life cycle
- Ability to identify appropriate tools and techniques at each stage of the product life cycle
- Experience developing sustainable support models
- Ability to identify and deal with potential risks across or between all stages of the product life cycle
- Experience coaching others and contributing to team assessments
- Ability to optimize delivery flow of teams
- Experience addressing complicated risks, issues, and dependencies, including those outside team ownership
- Ability to identify innovative ways to unblock issues
- Experience leading continual planning processes in complex environments
- Ability to plan beyond product delivery
- Ability to identify dependencies across services and coordinate delivery
- Expertise in coaching other teams as a central point of knowledge
- Understanding of team psychology and strong mediation skills
- Ability to coach organizations on team dynamics and conflict resolution
- Considerable experience using agile methodologies
