Responsibilities
- Monitor database health and performance across production environments
- Respond to critical database incidents with rapid diagnosis and resolution
- Implement automated solutions for backup, recovery, and failover processes
- Optimize query performance and indexing strategies
- Design and deploy highly available and fault-tolerant database architectures
- Collaborate with development teams on schema design and data modeling
- Enforce database security policies and access controls
- Manage database upgrades, patches, and version migrations
- Develop tools and scripts to streamline operational workflows
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring database issues
- Support disaster recovery planning and testing
- Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory standards
- Tune database configurations for efficiency and scalability
- Evaluate and integrate new database technologies and tools
- Document system architecture, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
- Mentor junior engineers and share operational best practices
- Participate in on-call rotations for production support
