Proton is hiring a Senior Database Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the reliability of a large MySQL infrastructure accessed through ProxySQL, including participation in round-the-clock incident response
  • Develop automated systems that reduce manual operations and enhance platform stability
  • Create software and internal tools to streamline database platform management, monitoring, and scaling, applying software engineering principles to infrastructure
  • Optimize performance at every level of the stack, including hardware, operating system, storage, networking, and SQL queries, proactively addressing performance constraints
  • Advocate for sound database practices during product design discussions, offering expert input on architecture, data structure, scalability, and system interoperability
  • Lead the planning and rollout of database version updates and full-stack upgrades with minimal impact on service availability
  • Influence long-term database direction by assessing new technologies such as distributed databases and contributing to company-wide engineering standards
