SumUp is hiring a Senior Data Science/ML Engineer - Financial Crime

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy scalable machine learning pipelines for transaction monitoring, including training, versioning, deployment, monitoring, and rollback mechanisms.
  • Enhance and maintain ML models to improve detection accuracy, operational performance, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Design features based on anti-money laundering and fraud patterns by collaborating with risk analysts to convert domain insights into detection logic and threshold settings.
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis using synthetic data and produce model documentation, model cards, and audit-ready reports to support governance requirements.
  • Manage and refine the AML Risk Score by analyzing component drivers, monitoring data drift, performing back-testing, and suggesting enhancements to features and rules.
  • Collaborate with AML, Fraud Operations, Product, and Engineering teams to transform business needs into scalable data science solutions.
  • Monitor and optimize detection KPIs, align systems with regional compliance regulations, and contribute to technical design documentation.
