About the Role
This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the retail and payments space by conducting risk assessments, monitoring transactions, and supporting audits and examinations.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate compliance risks related to retail financial services and payment processing
- Conduct regular monitoring and testing of compliance controls
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis
- Assist in the development and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures
- Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and assess impact
- Collaborate with legal and risk teams to address compliance issues
- Investigate potential compliance violations and recommend corrective actions
- Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory bodies
- Lead compliance training sessions for relevant departments
- Ensure adherence to anti-money laundering (AML) standards
- Review new product offerings for regulatory implications
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state regulations
- Work with operations teams to implement compliance enhancements
- Track and report key compliance metrics
- Support incident response related to compliance breaches
- Engage with external regulators during examinations
- Document compliance processes and control frameworks
- Identify gaps in current compliance programs
- Propose improvements to compliance monitoring systems
- Coordinate with IT on data access for compliance reviews
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in law, business, or regulatory studies
- Direct experience in retail banking compliance
- Prior work with payment processors or fintech platforms
- CAMS-ACAMS certification
- Experience with regulatory exams from state or federal agencies
- Background in transaction monitoring systems
- Knowledge of OFAC regulations
- Familiarity with consent orders or enforcement actions
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
