The Senior Bootloader Engineer will lead the design and implementation of secure bootloader solutions for automotive SoCs, ensuring robust hardware initialization and system boot processes. This role requires close collaboration with internal and external teams to integrate bootloaders within complex embedded environments involving hypervisors, operating systems, and firmware, with a strong emphasis on functional safety and cybersecurity.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and development of safe and secure bootloaders for automotive applications
- Support hardware bring-up for automotive system-on-chips, including platforms such as Renesas R-Car and Qualcomm
- Integrate, configure, and customize bootloaders to support the loading and execution of hypervisors, operating systems, and firmware images
- Collaborate with customer and internal engineering teams to ensure alignment and successful integration
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in embedded software development
- Proficiency in C for bare-metal environments, ARM assembly, C++, and scripting languages such as Bash and Python for automation and testing
- Strong understanding of ARM-based automotive SoC architectures, particularly boot mechanisms and security subsystems
- Hands-on experience with secure boot processes and multi-stage boot flows, including Boot ROM, ARM Trusted Firmware (ATF), SPL/U-Boot, QNX IPL, device tree, partition tables, and A/B update logic
- Familiarity with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 and cybersecurity standards including ISO 21434

- Experience working with operating systems such as Linux, Android, or QNX
- Possession of certifications in functional safety and/or cybersecurity domains
- Knowledge of hardware security modules (HSM) and cybersecurity implementation
