Kalepa is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Submission Processing Team. You will work at the intersection of AI and backend engineering on core R&D, building solutions that process millions of insurance documents at scale to extract and synthesize information. You'll collaborate with a global team of engineers to create scalable backend systems.
What You'll Do
- Build LLM-based solutions that process millions of insurance documents at scale.
- Extract precise information about companies from documents.
- Synthesize extracted information into a complete picture of the insured.
- Work on cutting-edge challenges requiring creativity and ambition.
- Build scalable backend solutions as part of a small, high-impact team.
- Collaborate with a global team of full-stack, data, ML, and DevOps engineers.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Deep Python expertise.
- Strong fundamentals in system design, debugging, and problem-solving.
- Experience working with LLMs in production and deploying them at scale.
- Fluent with coding agents and AI-assisted development.
- Experience with AWS and serverless technologies (Lambda, EC2).
- Experience with asynchronous workflows and cloud environments.
- Comfortable with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL.
- Embody hustle and grit, being excellent at your craft and relentless in pursuing it.
- Take full ownership of work and drive projects to completion with minimal oversight.
- Communicate proactively, surfacing blockers and keeping stakeholders in the loop.
- Thrive on experimentation, testing ideas, measuring results, and iterating quickly.
