Hauler Hero is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (Contractor)

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and sustain scalable backend service components
• Produce clean, testable, and efficient code using Java or Kotlin with Spring Boot
• Build and manage APIs capable of handling live production traffic
• Improve system reliability and maintainability through refactoring and extension of current services
• Develop reusable modules and design patterns to accelerate team productivity
• Design and refine relational database schemas using PostgreSQL
• Write and optimize SQL queries for efficiency with large datasets
• Ensure database access methods perform well under heavy usage
• Detect and eliminate performance issues across distributed services
• Collaborate within a cross-functional team using Agile or Scrum methodologies
• Engage in system design evaluations, code inspections, and architecture conversations
• Work closely with Frontend and Product teams to deliver new features
• Troubleshoot and resolve live production incidents promptly
• Help refine engineering workflows and development practices
• Guide team members through technical mentorship and code feedback
• Promote a culture emphasizing continuous learning, iteration, and open feedback
• Proactively share knowledge to prevent information bottlenecks

• Regular overlap with U.S. business hours is required
