What You'll Do
- Design and implement backend systems that handle the ingestion, transformation, and distribution of audiobook and eBook content at scale.
- Develop services and APIs that ensure accurate, efficient processing of metadata, royalties, and digital assets across a global platform.
- Work across the stack to build internal tools, operational interfaces, and data pipelines that support content workflows.
- Take ownership of system reliability, monitoring performance, and driving improvements in scalability and resilience.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to turn complex requirements into robust, maintainable solutions.
- Participate in technical planning by authoring and reviewing design documents, influencing architecture decisions across the audiobooks ecosystem.
- Adapt to evolving priorities by engaging in areas such as deployment infrastructure, data modeling, or tooling beyond core backend responsibilities.
- Mentor team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a culture of psychological safety, curiosity, and continuous growth.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on backend and distributed systems.
- Strong expertise in Java, gRPC, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or equivalent technologies.
- Experience working with data pipelines and a demonstrated ability to navigate across layers of the stack when needed.
- Commitment to writing clean, testable code and maintaining high standards for operational excellence.
- Ability to thrive in fast-moving, uncertain environments and make practical, reversible decisions efficiently.
