Deel is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (AI focus) to build backend services that bring AI capabilities to life inside our Payroll workflows. You will collaborate with ML engineers and operations to create real-world AI-powered tools for a platform enabling the future of work.
What You'll Do
- Build backend services that bring AI capabilities to life inside our Payroll workflows
- Collaborate with ML engineers and operations to create real-world AI-powered tools
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in backend or full-stack engineering
- Hands-on experience with JavaScript, Node.js and PostgreSQL
- Strong API integration skills
- Hands-on experience integrating AI APIs into production systems
- Comfort working with unstructured or messy data and ETL pipelines
Nice to Have
- Python scripting experience for AI workflows
- Familiarity with OpenAI, Gemini, or Anthropic APIs
- Experience building chatbot or conversational interfaces
- Prompt engineering fundamentals
- Document or file parsing experience (CSV, PDF, Excel)
