Responsibilities
- Build the semantic core. Design, evolve, and own the platform that transforms raw enterprise data into structured, business-accurate meaning, from data extraction pipelines to semantic storage, versioning, and governance.
- Own features end-to-end. Take a problem from schema design through backend logic, API, and the edges of the frontend. You won't hand things off. You'll see them through, and you'll care about every layer.
- Shape architecture. Make principled technical decisions and explain them clearly. Balance long-term platform coherence with the speed that early-stage demands. Push back when it matters. Adapt when it doesn't.
- Amplify your impact with AI. Integrate the most powerful AI tools into your development workflow across design, implementation, testing, and documentation, to move faster while maintaining high standards for correctness and reliability.
Requirements
- Backend depth. You have solid experience building data-intensive or distributed systems. You're fluent across APIs, data modeling, and cloud infrastructure — and you make technical decisions that hold up over time, not just under today's constraints.
- Pragmatic by design. You weigh trade-offs clearly and reach for the right pattern, library, or approach for the problem at hand, not out of habit. You can defend that choice clearly.
- Sharp thinking. You break down complex problems methodically and reach well-reasoned conclusions. You know how to separate signal from noise, and you're comfortable making decisions under uncertainty without waiting for the perfect answer.
- Clear communicator. You express ideas precisely, in code, in writing, and in conversation. You can walk a non-technical colleague through a technical decision without oversimplifying it.
- Collaborative by default. You share knowledge freely, back the best idea regardless of where it came from, and make the people around you better. You're someone colleagues genuinely want to build with.
- Self-starter. You demonstrate ownership from day one. No ramp-up waiting for permission. You'll take initiative on real problems immediately and be trusted to own the outcome.
- Cross-functional. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with a lean team spanning engineering, product, and go-to-market. Decisions move fast, and your voice counts.
- 4+ years of professional Python backend development experience.
- Strong expertise with FastAPI in production environments, including lightweight API design.
- Solid command of PostgreSQL, Snowflake (or equivalent relational databases) and ORM-based data modeling.
- Proven ability to translate customer and business requirements into well-architected technical solutions.
- Deep understanding of software engineering best practices — CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), containerization (Docker), and hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure, GCP or similar).
- Demonstrated use of AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor) in production workflows, with strong judgment around validation and quality control.
- Experience creating test scenarios and writing automated tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
Nice to Have
- Background in semantic systems (knowledge graphs, ontology mapping, data catalogs)
- Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows.
- Exposure to SAP data structures or enterprise ERP environments
- Experience with microservices architecture, scalable API design, and building AI guardrails or internal AI tooling systems.
- Hands-on experience with agentic workflows and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation. Fair and attractive pay that reflects the seniority and impact of the role.
- A growing team. We are scaling deliberately, bringing in people who raise the bar. Your scope grows as the company does.
- People who care. Everyone on the team is deeply invested in the problem and committed to doing the work well.
- Full transparency. No filtered updates. Everyone knows what's being built, how the business is doing, and where we're going.
