AIC is hiring a Senior Accountant

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily accounting operations for an active operating company, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, cash application, bank and credit card reconciliations, payroll journal entries, fixed assets and depreciation, prepaids and accruals, sales and use tax, 1099s, and the general ledger. You function as the accounting department, collaborating with the plant's bookkeeper or office manager.
  • Ensure accurate inventory and cost accounting, covering raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods valuation. Oversee cycle counts and physical inventory, standard costs, purchase price variance, scrap, labor and overhead absorption, and job costing against actual routings. This area drives margin analysis and is where accounting errors most frequently occur.
  • Transition inherited financial records to AIC's standard framework. Many acquired companies have used informal cash-basis methods, side spreadsheets, and an unstructured chart of accounts without a formal close schedule. You will map to AIC's chart of accounts, create a close checklist, clean up the balance sheet, and establish a defensible opening balance sheet after acquisition.
  • Handle the accounting aspects of acquisitions and subsequent activities, including purchase accounting entries, working capital true-ups, audit and review requests, tax package preparation for external CPAs, and lender or covenant reporting required by acquisition financing.
  • Support customer and contract requirements such as progress billings, milestone invoicing, government invoicing portals, job-level cost tracking, and documentation expected by aerospace, defense, and government-contracting clients. Where flow-down obligations exist, maintain accounting records that substantiate them.
  • Manage back-office administration tasks including benefits enrollment and life-event changes, new-hire and termination paperwork, I-9s and personnel files, PTO tracking, workers’ compensation and 401(k) census and audit support, open enrollment with the company’s broker, and payroll processing. In this size of company, these duties fall to the person overseeing the back office.
  • Handle employee relations, discipline, terminations, investigations, and any matters that may involve legal questions by routing them to AIC. You administer the programs but do not own human resources functions.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage through the portfolio company’s plan.
  • Paid time off according to the portfolio company’s policy.
  • Base salary range of $105,000 to $155,000.

Compensation

Base salary range $105,000 – $155,000

Work Arrangement

On-site — 5 days per week

Team

You are employed by the portfolio company and work alongside the people who build the product, not as a visitor, consultant, or corporate oversight arriving at quarter-end.

Other

  • Please note this is an on-site role, 5x a week.
  • You are employed by the portfolio company itself and you sit with the people who build the product — not a visitor, not a consultant, and not corporate oversight parachuting in at quarter-end.
  • Your reporting package goes straight to AIC.
