Responsibilities
- Manage the full cycle of revenue reconciliation by matching donations from multiple sources—such as bank transfers, securities, and cryptocurrency—to the CRM system, ensuring accurate general ledger reporting and proper regranting to charitable organizations.
- Lead quarterly grants reconciliations by aligning general ledger data with the grants database, verifying correct grantee attributions, accurate liability tracking, proper fund allocation across grant categories, and net asset rollforward integrity.
- Support complex month-end and quarter-end close activities beyond core revenue and grants, including investment reconciliations and journal entries for lease amortization, intercompany grants, and accrued employee benefits.
- Assist in audit readiness and tax compliance by preparing financial statement components, footnotes, and documentation for Form 990, while collaborating with external auditors and tax preparers under the Controller’s guidance.
- Lead process optimization initiatives, particularly in grants accounting, by identifying inefficiencies and advising on scalable improvements to strengthen the finance team’s long-term capacity.
- Provide ongoing guidance and mentorship to the Staff Accountant, serving as a primary resource for problem-solving and professional development.

- Proficiency in English is required for all communication and documentation.
- Attendance at biannual in-person Visit Weeks in Oakland, California, and up to two departmental retreats per year is expected. Occasional travel to conferences or recruitment events may also be beneficial.
- Work hours are flexible to accommodate individual productivity and personal commitments.
- Relocation assistance is available for candidates who choose to move to New York City or Oakland for in-person work.
- Start date is as soon as possible after offer acceptance, with some flexibility allowed for personal or professional transition needs.
