Valiant Solutions, LLC is hiring a Security Controls Assessor

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical evaluations of NIST SP 800-53 security controls, applying relevant overlays such as high-value assets, AI systems, critical software, and FedRAMP requirements.
  • Act as a technical authority on FISMA and FedRAMP standards across security assessment and authorization activities, including event-driven assessments.
  • Manage end-to-end phases of security assessments, including discovery, risk validation, evidence collection, control testing, and finalizing assessment documentation.
  • Facilitate stakeholder coordination, conduct findings reviews, and present draft assessment results with risk-based recommendations.
  • Maintain and standardize templates for key assessment deliverables to ensure consistency and regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate the impact of emerging laws, regulations, and policy changes on assessment requirements and advise on necessary process updates.
  • Provide ongoing technical leadership and mentorship to junior security analysts.
  • Integrate threat modeling and proactive threat hunting techniques into assessment workflows to identify potential vulnerabilities.
  • Identify and promote automation strategies—such as robotic process automation and workflow orchestration—to enhance assessment accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support cloud security package reviews under FedRAMP and respond to audit requests from oversight bodies including OIG, GAO, and OMB.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and training to empower federal staff to conduct assessments and serve as backup assessors.
