EdOps is hiring a School Finance Manager- Charter Schools (CFO/Director of Finance)

About the Role

What You'll Do

Guide the financial direction of 5 to 8 charter or independent schools, serving as their strategic finance leader. Advise school leadership and governing boards on budget development, financial planning, and operational decisions that align with institutional goals and values. Develop detailed financial models and forecasts that support sustainable growth and long-term stability.

Present financial strategies and performance insights during board and committee meetings, translating complex data into clear, actionable guidance. Identify financial challenges proactively and work directly—or with internal teams—to implement effective solutions. Support junior finance staff by mentoring and refining school-specific financial processes.

Contribute to the evolution of financial services by helping shape best practices, tools, and internal initiatives that improve how schools manage resources. Your work will bridge direct client impact with broader innovation in educational finance.

Requirements

You have led finance operations in a school setting or played a central role in a larger school organization’s finance team. You bring experience working alongside school leadership, with a solid grasp of accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency in Excel—including functions like VLOOKUP and SUMIFS—is essential, as is comfort navigating accounting software and cloud-based collaboration tools like Google Workspace.

You excel at analyzing data, solving complex problems, and communicating clearly with stakeholders across financial literacy levels. You’re confident presenting to senior leaders and advising executives, balancing diplomacy with strategic insight. Strong organizational and time management abilities allow you to manage multiple priorities independently. Most candidates will have 10 to 15 years of relevant professional or post-secondary experience.

Benefits

This role offers meaningful work focused on advancing student success through strong financial management. You’ll collaborate with a team dedicated to education, equity, and mutual support. The position supports remote work with flexible scheduling options for exceptional candidates, promoting work-life balance while maintaining high impact.
