About the Role

The Research Associate will be responsible for conducting independent research, contributing to publications, and participating in events related to Middle East studies. The role involves analyzing current events, drafting reports, and providing expertise to enhance the organization's work in this area.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent research on Middle East politics, economics, and security.
  • Draft reports, briefs, and other written materials.
  • Contribute to the development of publications and events.
  • Provide expertise on Middle East issues to enhance the organization's work.
  • Analyze current events and trends in the Middle East.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and experts in the field.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions related to Middle East studies.
  • Assist in the organization of events and conferences.
  • Prepare presentations and talks on Middle East topics.
  • Engage with stakeholders and partners in the Middle East studies community.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in Middle East politics, economics, and security.
  • Contribute to the development of research agendas and projects.
  • Provide support to senior researchers and experts.
  • Conduct literature reviews and bibliographic research.
  • Develop and maintain databases and research materials.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and funding applications.
  • Participate in outreach and public engagement activities.
  • Provide administrative support as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of educational materials and resources.
  • Assist in the organization of workshops and seminars.
  • Conduct interviews and surveys with experts and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations at conferences and events.
  • Contribute to the development of policy recommendations and briefs.

Nice to Have

  • PhD in Middle East Studies, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Fluency in Arabic, Persian, or another relevant language.
  • Experience in conducting field research in the Middle East.
  • Publication record in academic journals or policy publications.
  • Experience in working with think tanks or research institutions.
  • Familiarity with policy-making processes and institutions.
  • Experience in conducting policy analysis and recommendations.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and diverse environment.
  • Experience in teaching or mentoring students or junior researchers.
  • Familiarity with digital research tools and software.
