The International Rescue Committee is hiring a Remote Learning Teacher to support child safety and educational continuity in Garissa and Tana Rivers counties following a climate event. In this role, you will facilitate remote learning, guide parents and learners on using digital devices for education, and create a safe environment for activity-based learning outside of school.
What You'll Do
- Initiate phone calls and deliver individualized learning sessions to targeted learners.
- Assess learning progress and tailor lesson delivery accordingly.
- Provide follow-up support on digital lessons, including clarification where needed.
- Collate learner feedback on lesson challenges to inform live virtual sessions.
- Conduct live virtual lesson classes to address feedback and problem areas.
- Disseminate information on remote learning through public and social gatherings.
- Provide guidance to learners and caregivers on how to access digital platforms for remote learning materials.
- Disseminate messages on child rights, child safety, and referral mechanisms.
- Flag dropout or protection risks and support school reintegration.
- Support following up identified child protection cases for referral and continued community support.
- Work closely with school head teachers.
- Work closely with PGI on client feedback to ensure community feedback mechanisms are understood.
What We're Looking For
- Teachers Service Commission - registered P1 teacher with a preference in English and Mathematics learning areas.
- Relevant experience in teaching, coaching, or community facilitation.
- Knowledge and experience in child rights, child protection, safeguarding, and referral pathways.
- Strong written and oral skills to clearly articulate objectives, expectations, and feedback.
- Excellent time management skills to manage group sessions, individual coaching, and administrative tasks.

This is a local-country position based in Garissa/Tana Rivers counties.
