Responsibilities
- Assesses appropriately patient care needs and learning needs in routine oncology patient populations.
- Reviews lab diagnostic data and incorporates in assessment.
- Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) monitoring to maintain or improve care of Oncology patient population.
- Plans patient care and education based on disease process, anticipated patient outcomes, complications of treatment, and psycho-social needs in collaboration with other healthcare team members.
- Initiates and follows through with appropriate referrals to other interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
- Demonstrates proficiency in use of technical skills as required (i.e., IV therapy equipment utilization, universal precautions, body mechanics).
- Establish IV access using peripheral or central catheters per protocol. Drug should only be prepared once an IV access is established and labs verified.
- Administer IV therapy as ordered by MD.
Requirements
- Associate degree/college diploma in Nursing
- Valid CA RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ONS Chemo/Immunotherapy certified
- One (1) year of acute care experience in their specialty
- One (1) year of experience for Infusion Center: ONS Chemo/Immunotherapy Certified
