Responsibilities
- Perform the functions required utilizing friction/mechanical and hydraulic cranes with/without a third line.
- Read and understand the operator's manual for the crane being operated.
- Read and understand the crane load chart.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) when on jobsite at all times.
- Adhere to and help enforce all safety requirements, especially those related to the crane and all attached equipment to include the power unit and related drilling equipment.
- Understand and use the standard hand signals for the operation of a crane.
- Move crane only with the assistance of specified crane ground guides.
- Under no circumstances will a company-owned and/or rented crane be moved without an approved ground guide.
- Inspect crane and related equipment for operational and safety factors, noting/correcting and notifying the Jobsite Supervisor of any problems or deficiencies.
- Clean and lubricate crane (to include greasing undercarriage and ALL grease points, adding all engine fluids and power unit fluids) daily as per crane operator's manual and specifications.
- Immediately report any equipment damage or deficiencies to the Jobsite Supervisor.
- Assist with crane-related activities, such as rebar cage placement in piles.
Requirements
- Training and previous field experience required.
- Red Seal endorsement required.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Applicants must possess the skills to work safely and efficiently at all times, be drug-free, maintain reliable transportation to and from the jobsite, and have valid identification.

- Crane operators must be willing and able to travel to construction sites around Manitoba.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- The employee is required to sit for extended periods of time.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
- The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
