At Lely, we are looking for a Rapid Prototyping Engineer to join our new, dynamic Future Tech Lab. You will be the pioneer who brings ideas to life, building and testing prototypes that have the potential to fundamentally improve Lely's products and concepts. Speed, creativity, and strategic impact are key in this role.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and iteratively improve prototypes, with a focus on electronics, software, and integrated systems.
- Conduct exploratory research into technologies, sensors, hardware, software, physics, and data analysis.
- Perform rapid prototyping and substantiate opportunities, limitations, and risks based on experiments and data.
- Set up, configure, and validate test setups.
- Collaborate with colleagues in electronics and software, sharing knowledge and contributing critical thinking.
- Document results, provide informed counterarguments, and give concrete recommendations for next steps.
What We're Looking For
- A higher professional education or university degree in Mechatronics, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a similar field.
- Comfort quickly setting up Python & C++ concepts and analyzing data.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in prototyping or a similar innovation environment.
- A strong hands-on mentality and proven experience in building and testing prototypes.
- The ability to make sharp analyses regarding system accuracy, performance, or reliability and translate these into informed choices.
- A critical, constructive attitude, asking questions about context and purpose, setting priorities, and advising when something has little added value.
- Proactivity in identifying deviations or trends in data and taking initiative to investigate further.
Nice to Have
- In-depth expertise in at least one domain: mechatronics, embedded systems, sensing, vision, AI/ML, robotics, or exploratory software engineering.
