Tended is hiring a Rail Safety Technology - Implementation Lead, Wales & Borders

Requirements

  • Proven background in on-site leadership roles such as ES, ESA, COSS, Site Agent, or equivalent within rail or a related sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a track record of influencing teams and enabling effective product adoption.
  • Technologically confident and eager to master product details to deliver hands-on training and support in field environments.
  • Meticulous in approach, with consistent adherence to defined processes and procedures.
  • Proactive problem-solver who identifies issues early and applies creative thinking to improve outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of railway operations and associated roles, along with current possession of a Personal Track Safety (PTS) certification or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Holding a full driving licence is mandatory.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with a range of rail roles, from frontline track staff to supervisory personnel, is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience deploying new technologies across diverse user groups with varying technical proficiency is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with project management tools is a plus.
  • Exposure to core project management areas including planning, risk management, dependencies, issue tracking, timelines, budgets, scope, deliverables, and quality control is desirable.
  • Some commercial insight, particularly in articulating project value to clients during implementation, is valued.

  • Location: Wales
  • Travel and working pattern: This is a field-based position focused on regular site visits across the Wales & Borders Route. At least three days per week will be spent at depots and worksites, with the remainder split between remote work and in-person meetings with your manager.
  • Due to shift patterns of end users, the role involves working nights, weekends, and bank holidays. Flexibility to align with operational and client demands is essential.
  • In return, comprehensive policies are in place covering travel, accommodation, subsistence, fatigue management, and time off in lieu.
