EMD Serono is hiring a Quality Engineer to lead the development of next-generation precursor thin film materials that enable innovation for the digital age. You will be instrumental in solving complex issues for top semiconductor manufacturers, helping to extend Moore’s Law.
What You'll Do
- Lead teams in the execution and quality of thin film materials for major global semiconductor customers.
- Lead cross-functional teams in resolving manufacturing, characterization, scale-up, and technology challenges related to synthesis, purification, or packaging.
- Lead investigations by managing cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement preventative or corrective actions.
- Act as the voice of the customer in all operational aspects, including production, characterization, packaging, and shipping.
- Support the Site Quality Manager in maintaining thin film quality performance and driving continuous improvement.
- Ensure disciplined use of process control tools like SPC reviews and High Impact Corrective Actions to improve site quality and reduce variation.
- Identify and enable automation activities to facilitate faster, data-driven decisions and uncover previously unknown variability.
- Act as a key voting member to disposition discrepant material, identify process gaps, and manage teams to implement controls.
- Lead, engage, and support audits of site processing and quality systems.
- Contribute to global quality projects and process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, or data-driven optimization.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree in a Scientific field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Physics) or an Engineering field (Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, etc.).
Nice to Have
- 2+ years’ experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, control engineering, analytical chemistry, or semiconductor fabrication.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate others and collaborate effectively with multiple internal stakeholders.
- Proven success in contributing to project advancement, team development, and process improvements.
- Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma projects or data-driven process optimization.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple activities and projects.
- Moderate to Advanced Statistical knowledge (SPC, t-test, ANOVA, single and multivariate statistical modelling).
- Experience with quality tools for problem solving (5Whys, process segmentation, Model Based Problem Solving), FMEAs, continuous improvement projects (CIP), management of change, and document control systems.

- Salary: $89,000 - $133,600/year
