India Hybrid Full-time INR 60,000 – 85,000 / month

Wispr Flow is hiring a QA Engineer (Windows / iOS)

Responsibilities

  • Own pre-release testing on every build.
  • Run the manual regression suite on physical devices before each Windows and iOS release.
  • Verify every bug fix and new feature that went into the build.
  • Pull, build, and test from source by checking out branches from GitHub and building the app locally.
  • Test specific changes in isolation by pulling branches when an engineer opens a PR, reproducing the reported issue on the previous build, and confirming the fix on the new one.
  • Do not wait for packaged builds.
  • Look at diffs to understand the blast radius of a change.
  • Stress-test relevant scenarios based on code changes (e.g., if a PR touches audio session handling on iOS, test background/foreground transitions, Bluetooth audio switching, and long dictation sessions).
  • Use AI tools like Claude Code to trace through the codebase, understand call paths, and narrow down root causes when bugs are found.
  • File bug reports with precise context: relevant code path, device/OS combo, logs, screen recordings, and branch/commit SHA so engineers can reproduce from the report alone.
  • Systematically test dictation across critical text fields in apps such as Notion, Gmail, Slack, WhatsApp, Cursor, VS Code, and hundreds more.
  • Test under various conditions including different accents, background noise, whisper mode, long-form dictation, and language switching.
  • Maintain and evolve the device matrix across Windows versions (10, 11) and iOS versions/devices.
  • Ensure every new feature and fixed bug gets a test case.
  • Own and keep current the manual regression suite.
  • Identify test cases suitable for automation and work with engineering to implement them.
  • Monitor crash reports, user feedback, and support tickets.
  • Reproduce and file issues proactively when patterns emerge.
  • Proactively test edge cases that nobody asked to cover.

Requirements

  • Prior engineering experience — you've built software before and understand how codebases work.
  • Comfort with Git workflows: branching, pulling, building from source, reading diffs.
  • Ability to read Swift and Windows-side code (C++, C#, or similar) well enough to understand what a change does.
  • Hands-on manual testing experience across iOS and/or Windows.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar).
  • Meticulous bug reporting: reproduction steps, logs, recordings, device/OS details, commit references.
  • High ownership mindset — you treat shipped bugs as personal failures.
  • Attention to detail that borders on obsessive.

Nice to Have

  • Experience testing voice, audio, or ML-powered products.
  • Familiarity with accessibility testing and assistive technology.
  • Experience with crash reporting and analytics tools (Sentry, PostHog, or similar).
  • Background in localization testing across multiple languages.
  • You've tested products that interact at the OS level (keyboard hooks, overlays, input method editors).
